Team Cherry has released Hollow Knight on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and the newly launched Switch 2. The game is priced at $15, but players who already own the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or original Switch versions can upgrade for free.

Alongside the new console versions, Team Cherry has also rolled out a fresh update across all platforms. The update brings several refinements and technical improvements. PC players now get full 21:9 and 16:10 ultrawide support. The developer has also added multiple under-the-hood improvements that were developed during work on Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Hollow Knight is a 2D action-adventure game set in the ruined kingdom of Hallownest. Players explore interconnected areas filled with enemies, secrets, and bosses. The game focuses on precise combat, exploration, and environmental storytelling. Its hand-drawn art style and atmospheric music have played a big role in its long-term popularity.

Since its original launch, Hollow Knight has become one of the most successful indie games of the last decade. It has sold millions of copies across PC and consoles and continues to hold strong ratings on major platforms. The game is often praised for its challenging gameplay, deep world design, and emotional soundtrack composed by Christopher Larkin. Even years after release, it maintains an active player base and a strong mod and speedrunning community on PC.

The new console versions include all previously released free content packs. These include Hidden Dreams, The Grimm Troupe, Lifeblood, and Godmaster. Together, these updates add new quests, bosses, charms, enemies, and music, significantly expanding the base game without extra cost.

Releasing on newer platforms could give Hollow Knight another boost. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles offer smoother performance and faster load times, which suit the game’s fast-paced combat. The Switch 2 version could also help the game reach a new audience, especially players who skipped the original Switch release or are discovering the title for the first time.
