Vivo may soon enter a completely new product category. After building a strong reputation for smartphone camera performance, the company is now said to be working on a dedicated vlogging camera.

According to a report from Chinese publication Jieman News, Vivo has started developing a vlogging camera that could launch later this year. The development reportedly began in late 2025. This would be Vivo’s first product outside smartphones in the creator camera space.

Vivo has consistently positioned itself as a camera-focused smartphone brand. Its recent flagship phones are often praised for image quality, color science, and low-light performance. The company has also worked closely with Zeiss, especially on optics and image tuning. If Vivo brings the same approach to a standalone vlogging camera, it could deliver strong image quality straight out of the box, which is critical for content creators.

Another reason this move makes sense is Vivo’s experience with computational photography. Smartphones rely heavily on software to enhance photos and videos. This expertise could help Vivo offer better video processing, skin tones, and stabilization in a compact vlogging camera. These are areas where creators care more about results than raw specifications.

The timing is also interesting. DJI is expected to launch the Osmo Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro, while Insta360 is reportedly working on its own Pocket-style camera with a modular design. Competition in the vlogging camera space is heating up, and Vivo could use this moment to enter with a fresh alternative.

Starting in the Chinese market could work well for Vivo. China has a massive creator economy driven by short video platforms and live streaming. Many creators prefer compact and easy-to-use cameras over large setups. Vivo already has strong brand recognition in China, which could help it attract first-time buyers and smartphone users looking to upgrade their content quality.

If priced competitively and backed by Vivo’s camera tuning, the vlogging camera could find a solid audience. It may also integrate well with Vivo smartphones, which could be another advantage for creators already using the brand.
