OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 15R in India as the latest model in its R series. The phone sits just below the flagship OnePlus 15 but still targets users who want top-end performance and features. It comes with a large AMOLED display, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, and a very big battery. The starting price is Rs. 47,999.
The OnePlus 15R follows a familiar premium design language. It comes with a metal frame and a clean, modern look. OnePlus is offering three colour options in India. Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze use a glass back, while Electric Violet uses fibreglass, which should be more resistant to wear over time. The phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings. This means it can survive water immersion and also handle high-pressure hot water jets. At over 213 grams, it is not a light phone, but that weight is expected considering the battery size and build.

The OnePlus 15R features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution. The screen supports adaptive refresh rates from 60Hz all the way up to 165Hz. For gaming, the higher refresh rates should make animations and scrolling feel very smooth.
The display also has a very high touch sampling rate of 3200Hz, which should help with faster touch response in games. The brightness goes up to 1,800 nits and can drop as low as 1 nit for night use.. It also has TÜV Rheinland Eye care certification.
The phone runs OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. OnePlus has added new AI-focused features, including deeper integration with Google Gemini. Features like Plus Mind and Mind Space are designed to help users save, recall, and act on information more easily.
OnePlus has promised four major Android updates and six years of security updates. This is in line with its flagship models and adds long-term value to the device.
The OnePlus 15R is the first phone to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. This is a 3nm processor and should deliver top-tier performance. The phone comes with at least 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. The large vapor chamber, aerogel insulation, and graphite layers should help keep temperatures under control during gaming and extended use. OnePlus has also added a dedicated Wi-Fi chip and partnered with TP-LINK in India to reduce lag and congestion, which should help online gaming performance.
The main camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor with optical image stabilisation. There is also an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP autofocus front camera. The phone supports 4K video recording at 120fps on the rear camera. OnePlus is using its DetailMax Engine here, which aims to improve clarity, motion capture, and night photography. Features like Clear Burst and Clear Night Engine should help in action shots and low-light scenes, although real-world results will matter more than claims.
The phone has an In-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and an Infrared sensor. For good audio, it has a USB Type-C audio and Stereo speakers. Connectivity options are 5G SA/ NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 7 802.11 be (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 6.0, Beidou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, NFC, and USB Type-C USB 2.0.
It packs a massive 7,400mAh battery, which is much larger than what most phones in this segment offer. OnePlus says the battery is designed to retain at least 80 percent capacity even after four years. The phone supports 80W SuperVOOC fast charging.
