Motorola has officially unveiled the Motorola Edge 70, the first device in its new Edge 70 series. The company calls Edge 70 “impossibly thin.” The phone has a thickness of just 5.99mm, and Motorola certainly deserves applause for this phone. Motorola Edge 70 seems to be the rebranded X70 Air that was launched in China a few days ago.
Motorola Edge 70 has a really good design. It combines aircraft-grade aluminum with a nylon-inspired back finish. Motorola has also partnered with Pantone to bring curated colors and even subtle accents around the camera lenses. The Edge 70 is IP68 and IP69 certified. It is also built to military-grade durability standards (MIL-STD-810H).
The phone comes with a 6.67-inch pOLED display with Super HD (2712 x 1220) Resolution. The display panel supports HDR10+, Pantone Validated Colours, Pantone SkinTone, 10-bit, and 100% DCI-P3 colour space. It has a peak brightness of 4500 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone also has SGS motion blur and blue light reduction certifications for comfortable viewing.
Motorola Edge 70 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB uMCP storage. This is a strong configuration for a mid-premium smartphone. The phone runs Android 16 out of the box, with 5 years of security updates promised. Motorola’s ThinkShield platform adds extra layers of device security.
The device integrates Google Gemini and Motorola’s moto ai features, offering functions like Playlist Studio, Image Studio, and Next Move. Users can generate images, playlists, or even get context-aware suggestions directly from their screen.
The Edge 70 packs three high-resolution 50MP sensors
- 50MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, and 2.0μm Ultra Pixel technology.
- 50MP ultra-wide + macro camera with 120° field of view and autofocus.
- 50MP front camera with Quad Pixel technology and up to 4K video recording.
The camera system supports AI features like Photo Enhancement Engine, Auto Night Vision, Action Shot, Signature Style, and Group Shot. Motorola has also integrated Google Photos tools — including Magic Eraser, HDR Effect, Portrait Light, and Magic Editor — directly into the gallery app.
Video capabilities include 4K 30fps recording, FHD slow motion at up to 240fps, and dual capture for recording from both front and rear cameras simultaneously.
The Edge 70 features dual stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos. There is no headphone jack, but the USB Type-C port supports high-quality audio output. Connectivity options are top-notch: Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, 5G SA/NSA, and dual SIM (Nano + eSIM). GPS, Glonass, and Galileo. It also has under display fingerprint sensor and face unlock support.
Motorola packs a 4800mAh silicon-carbon battery inside a 6mm chassis. The company claims up to 50 hours of total use, 29 hours of continuous video playback, and 8 hours of 4K recording. It supports 68W TurboPower fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
