Clear River Games, in partnership with Japanese developer Tatsujin, has released a new trailer for Truxton Extreme, the upcoming vertical shoot ’em up that revives the classic arcade franchise. The trailer demonstrates the game’s newly announced co-op mode, where players can team up to defend Earth against an onslaught of alien invaders.

The co-op mode will let players revive each other during tough battles and even redirect weapons for extra firepower. With enemies like mechanical serpents, insect-like creatures, and spiked monsters filling the screen, teamwork will be crucial to survival. The iconic Thunder Laser also returns, giving fans of the original an extra dose of nostalgia.

Truxton Extreme stays true to its shmup roots while bringing modern updates. The game features 3D visuals, intense shooting action, and an episodic comic-book story from manga artist Junya Inoue. The soundtrack, composed by series creator Masahiro Yuge, includes both remastered classic tracks and brand-new music.

Key features include:

  • 18 chapters of arcade-style gameplay
  • 8 unique stages
  • Multiple devastating weapons
  • Co-op team mode
  • Extra modes like Heart Starter for beginners

A playable demo of Truxton Extreme will be available at Tokyo Game Show 2025 from September 25 to 28 at Happinet’s booth (Hall 7, booth 07-N12). The demo includes updates and extras not seen at Gamescom.

Truxton Extreme will launch soon on PC and PlayStation 5, with wishlists now open on Steam and the PlayStation Store.
