Gears of War is making a big comeback. Microsoft has officially announced Gears of War: Reloaded, and this time, it is coming not just to Xbox and PC, but also to PlayStation 5. Yes, you read it right. Gears of War is going multiplatform.
The game will be released on August 26, 2025, and will be priced at ₹39.99. It will also be available on Game Pass from day one. If you already own the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition digitally, you will get Gears of War: Reloaded as a free upgrade.
Gears of War: Reloaded is a modern version of the original Gears of War game that was released back in 2006. It has been completely updated for today’s consoles and PCs. Think of it as a remastered version, but with a lot more polish and improvements.
It features 4K resolution, up to 120 FPS in multiplayer, and cross-play between platforms. That means you can play with your friends, even if they are on a different system like Xbox, PlayStation, or PC. It also supports cross-progression, so your game progress carries over no matter where you play.
Gears of War: Reloaded includes everything from the Ultimate Edition — including the extra campaign act, all the multiplayer maps, game modes, and classic characters. All of it is available from the start, with no extra charges.
The game will also come with some of the key upgrades including 4K visuals with remastered textures, 60 FPS in campaign and 120 FPS in multiplayer, and Zero loading screens in campaign. It also promises Dolby Vision, HDR, and spatial audio support.
This version of Gears is built for playing with others. You can enjoy the campaign in 2-player co-op or compete online in 8-player multiplayer matches. You do not even need a Microsoft account to play online, but signing in will unlock full cross-platform features like syncing your progress and inviting friends across platforms.
If you bought the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before May 5, 2025, Microsoft will give you a free copy of Gears of War: Reloaded
