Apple has unveiled its latest Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chips. The new Mac mini promises to offer a balance of performance, size, and sustainability. It now measures just 5 by 5 inches, making it even more compact than its predecessor.
The new Mac mini with an M4 chip promises up to 1.8x faster CPU performance and 2.2x faster GPU performance compared to the M1 model. It features a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, along with 16GB of unified memory. Apple promises smooth multitasking, seamless video editing, music production, and faster coding on Mac mini with an M4 chip.
Mac mini powered by the M4 chip shows significant improvements in real-world applications. It boasts up to 2.8x more audio effect plugins in Logic Pro, 13.3x faster gaming performance in World of Warcraft: The War Within, and 33x faster image upscaling in Photomator compared to Mac mini with Intel Core i7.
The Mac mini with M4 Pro has 14 cores CPU including 10 performance cores and four efficiency cores. It also has a 20-core GPU that doubles the power of the M4 GPU. It is built to deliver lightning-fast performance for creative professionals and also boasts hardware-accelerated ray tracing. The Mac mini with M4 Pro supports up to 64GB of unified memory and features 273GB/s of memory bandwidth.
The Mac mini with M4 Pro claims 4x faster spreadsheet calculations in Microsoft Excel, 9.4x faster scene-edit detection in Adobe Premiere Pro, and 26x faster basecalling for DNA sequencing in Oxford Nanopore’s MinKNOW.
The new Mac mini includes two front-facing USB-C ports, supporting USB 3, and an audio jack with high-impedance headphone support. The back panel has Thunderbolt 4 (M4 model) or Thunderbolt 5 (M4 Pro model) ports, an HDMI port, and Gigabit Ethernet, configurable up to 10Gb Ethernet. Mac mini with M4 supports up to two 6K displays and one 5K display. The M4 Pro Mac mini can handle up to three 6K displays at 60Hz.
The new Mac mini also introduces Apple Intelligence which enables users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text systemwide using new Writing Tools it also comes with redesigned Siri that supports both spoken and typed requests. Apple will also integrate ChatGPT into Siri and Writing Tools in December. Apple’s Private Cloud Compute ensures that user data remains secure, with advanced on-device processing and privacy measures.
Pricing and Availability
The new Mac mini with M4 starts at Rs 59,900 and the M4 Pro version starts from Rs 1,49,900. Students can get it at Rs 49,900 and Rs 1,39,900 respectively. It is now available for pre-order and will go on sale starting November 8.
