Valve has brought back Steam Next Fest for October 2026 to give PC gamers thousands of game demos to explore for free. The event features upcoming games from indie studios and major publishers, offering players an early look at new releases before they hit the market. This is the third edition of Steam Next Fest this year, and it gives gamers plenty of options across different genres.
Steam Next Fest is a digital showcase where developers can introduce their upcoming games to a wider audience. Instead of relying only on trailers and gameplay videos, players can download demos and experience the games themselves. This also gives developers a chance to attract new players and build interest before launch.
Finding the right game can be difficult with thousands of demos available. Valve has added several discovery tools to the Steam Next Fest page to make the process easier. Players can browse games by genre, theme, and features, while Steam tags offer another way to find titles with similar gameplay styles. Users who sign in can also get personalised recommendations based on their gaming activity and purchase history.
The event’s Charts section is worth checking out for anyone who wants to know which demos are attracting the most attention. At launch, popular titles include Haunted Paws, Emberville, Stronghold 4, Wyldheart, ArchAgeChronicles, Frostrail, Warhammer Survivors, Tropico 7, and The Wolf Among Us Remastered. The list may change as more players discover games and try their demos throughout the week.
The event is particularly useful for gamers who want to discover titles beyond the usual big releases. Independent developers make up a large part of the showcase, giving smaller projects an opportunity to reach more players. For gamers, it is a chance to find something new and test its gameplay before spending money on the full version.
Steam Next Fest: October 2026 will run until October 26 at 10 AM PT. Players can browse the available demos and find recommendations on the official Steam Next Fest page.
Valve is also preparing for its next seasonal shopping event. The Steam Halloween Sale is scheduled to begin on October 26. It will give PC gamers another chance to buy games at discounted prices. Those looking to expand their libraries can use Next Fest to discover upcoming titles and keep an eye out for deals during the sale.
