AION 2 is getting a strong response on Steam and Twitch as it begins its global rollout. The MMORPG entered Advanced Access on September 30 for players who purchased a Founder’s Pack, ahead of its global free-to-play launch on October 5.
According to Steam data from Techlomedia Gaming, AION 2 had 166,323 players on Steam at the time of checking. The game has already reached a 24-hour peak of 171,530 concurrent players. These numbers come before the wider free-to-play launch, when the game will become available to everyone in supported regions.
AION 2 is also attracting a large audience on Twitch. Techlomedia Gaming recorded 240,855 active viewers watching AION 2 streams at the time of writing this article, with 2,713 live channels streaming the game. This gives an early indication of the attention the global release is generating beyond the game’s active player base.
There is an important thing to note around the release date. AION 2 is not a new game globally. It originally launched in South Korea and Taiwan in November 2025, where it has already been available on PC and mobile. The current rollout is the game’s global release, with the PC version arriving on Steam and NCSoft’s PURPLE platform.
The global version entered Advanced Access on September 30. Access during this period requires a Founder’s Pack, while the full free-to-play launch is scheduled for October 5. This means the current Steam numbers represent only players who have gained early access rather than the entire potential global audience.
The high Twitch activity also comes as NC America is promoting the global release with its “War for Atreia” creator event. The campaign features 60 streamers and includes Twitch Drops, which can increase the game’s visibility and streaming activity during the launch period. Therefore, the Twitch numbers should be viewed in the context of this promotional campaign.
AION 2 has also reached the top of Steam’s Global Top Sellers chart. However, Steam’s Top Sellers ranking is based on revenue rather than concurrent player count. The Founder’s Packs that provide Advanced Access are therefore part of the reason the game is performing strongly on the sales chart.
The bigger milestone will come on October 5, when AION 2 becomes free to play globally. The game has already crossed 171,000 concurrent Steam players during Advanced Access, but the free-to-play launch will provide a much clearer picture of its global audience.
