One More Level has announced the pricing and editions for Valor Mortis, its upcoming first-person Souls-like game. The Standard Edition will cost $39.99, while the Deluxe Edition will cost $59.99.
The studio has also confirmed that it will not offer pre-orders for the game. Instead, players will be able to buy Valor Mortis when it launches and judge the game for themselves.
One More Level says Valor Mortis will offer around 20 hours of story content. The developer believes the campaign length, production quality and visual fidelity make the $39.99 price suitable for the game.
The $59.99 Deluxe Edition will include the base game and a major story DLC planned for 2027. It will also include cosmetic content that will be released before the expansion.
The developer plans to support the game with smaller free updates after launch.
The decision to skip pre-orders is an interesting one. One More Level wants players to see the actual game before spending money on it. The studio says it wants the game’s quality and depth to speak for themselves rather than relying on pre-launch sales.
Valor Mortis is a single-player first-person Souls-like set in an alternate version of 19th-century Europe during the Napoleonic era. Players take the role of William, a former soldier who returns from the dead as a mysterious plague spreads across Europe.
Combat combines melee weapons, parrying, movement, guns and supernatural abilities. The first-person perspective also gives the game a different approach to the traditional Souls-like formula.
One More Level previously delayed Valor Mortis from September 24 to October 13. The game will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass at launch.
The game has already received a demo through Steam Next Fest, giving players an early look at its combat and overall direction.
