Tecno is pushing the limits of what can fit inside a slim smartphone with its latest Camon model.
The company has announced the Tecno Camon Slim 5G, which measures just 6.39mm thick but packs a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. It also features a 50-megapixel Sony camera, a 144Hz AMOLED display and several design-focused features.
The battery is the biggest highlight. The Camon Slim 5G has a larger cell than Tecno’s previous slim phones, including the 5,600mAh battery in the earlier Camon Slim. It supports 45W fast charging.
Tecno is also taking an unusual approach to the phone’s design. It comes in five finishes, including Burgundy Red, Neo Mondrian, Matisse Black, Van Gogh Blue and Rebel Pink.
The Neo Mondrian variant uses photochromic technology and can reveal coloured blocks under different lighting conditions. The Van Gogh Blue version uses a patterned gradient inspired by The Starry Night, while Matisse Black combines a black fiberglass body with fluorescent green accents.
The camera setup is equally focused on versatility. The phone has a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C main sensor with a Type 1/1.56-inch sensor, along with a 2x telephoto camera and a 0.6x ultra-wide camera.
Tecno is also adding AI tools to the camera. AI LightMaster 2.0 can remove shadows, flares and reflections from photos, while AI Snap Poster can create product images with cleaner backgrounds. Its Universal Tone technology is designed to improve skin-tone reproduction.
Another interesting addition is the Mag Badge, a small Bluetooth accessory with a 1.73-inch AMOLED display. It can show photos, work as a remote shutter from up to 10 metres away and act as a preview screen for selfies.
The Camon Slim 5G has a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300e 5G chipset with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16.
It also carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for protection against dust and water.
The Camon Slim 5G is interesting because Tecno has avoided the usual trade-off of making a phone thinner at the expense of battery life. A 6,000mAh battery could make it a practical choice for users who want a slim phone but still spend a lot of time on gaming, streaming, photography or navigation.
Tecno has not yet revealed the price or availability of the Camon Slim 5G.
