Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17 5G in India. It is the company’s latest smartphone in the Redmi number series and comes with a large 6.9-inch display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, and a massive 7,900mAh battery.
The Redmi 17 5G features a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate. The screen supports up to 240Hz touch sampling and can reach up to 825 nits in High Brightness Mode. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Xiaomi has also added Wet Touch Technology, DC dimming, and three TÜV Rheinland certifications for eye comfort. The phone has a flat design with a matte frame and Metal Deco styling. A Dynamic RGB Light system on the phone provides visual notifications for calls, charging, gaming, and app alerts.
The Redmi 17 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor, built on a 4nm process. It comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The storage can be expanded by up to 2TB using a microSD card.
The phone runs Android 16 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. Xiaomi says the new software brings improved responsiveness and smoother system animations.
The device has a 50-megapixel AI dual-camera setup on the back. It also supports dual-view recording, allowing users to capture video from the front and rear cameras at the same time. There is an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
The phone also comes with stereo speakers and a volume boost feature that can increase the output up to 300%. It retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and also supports FM radio. Connectivity options include 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C.
Redmi 17 5G packs a 7,900mAh battery. It supports 45W fast charging, with Xiaomi claiming a full charge takes around 96 minutes. The phone also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing it to charge other compatible devices and accessories.
The Redmi 17 5G measures 170.12 x 78.42 x 8.8mm and weighs 232 grams. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. The device is available in Absolute Black, Endless Blue, and Eternal Orange. The Eternal Orange variant comes with a PU leather finish.
Redmi 17 5G price in India
The Redmi 17 5G 6GB + 128GB model is priced at Rs. 23,999, while the 8GB + 128GB variant costs Rs. 26,999.
The phone will go on sale in India from September 10 through Amazon.in, mi.com, Xiaomi retail stores, and other offline stores.
