Razer has launched the Kiyo V2 Pro, a new high-end webcam aimed at streamers, creators and users who want better video quality for calls. The $300 webcam combines a new Sony sensor with 4K recording, 60fps capture, and several AI-powered features.
The Kiyo V2 Pro uses an 8.3-megapixel Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, the same sensor used by Elgato in its latest 4K webcam. Razer has paired it with a lens with an f/1.9 aperture, which should help the camera capture more light in darker environments while also producing a stronger background blur.
The webcam can record at 4K and up to 60fps, giving smoother video with less motion blur during calls and livestreams. Razer has also increased the camera’s dynamic range to preserve more detail in scenes with both bright and dark areas.
Interestingly, Razer has actually reduced the field of view compared with the regular Kiyo V2. The Kiyo V2 Pro offers an 86-degree field of view, down from 93 degrees. Razer says this helps maintain image quality at 4K and reduces the fisheye effect around the edges of the frame.
The Kiyo V2 Pro also adds AI-powered auto-framing. The camera can intelligently pan, tilt and zoom to keep the user in the frame as they move, similar to the automatic framing features now found in some smartphones and video calling apps.
Razer has also added a one-click enhancement feature that automatically adjusts exposure, white balance and noise reduction based on the user’s surroundings. This is designed to make it easier to get a cleaner image without manually changing camera settings.
For users who want more control, the webcam works with Razer Synapse, allowing settings such as ISO and shutter speed to be adjusted manually.
The Kiyo V2 Pro comes with both a monitor and laptop clamp and a universal mount for use with a tripod. It also has an integrated privacy shutter built into the camera, which can physically cover the lens when the webcam is not being used.
The Razer Kiyo V2 Pro is now available for $300 through Razer and other retailers.
