OnePlus has confirmed the launch date of its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 16. The company made the announcement at its Game Conference on September 28, where it also revealed new details about the phone’s gaming-focused hardware and software.
The OnePlus 16 will officially launch on October 12. While OnePlus has already revealed several specifications of the phone in recent announcements, the latest event focused on its gaming performance and the technology behind it.
The phone will be among the first devices powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. OnePlus has also developed a new Windspeed Game Kernel that is integrated at the firmware level.
According to OnePlus, the system supports native 185FPS gaming across supported titles and graphical settings. The company also claims that its super-frame technology can increase the frame rate of games that do not natively support such high refresh rates. The system is designed to improve frame stability while keeping power consumption under control during longer gaming sessions.
OnePlus is also introducing what it calls an “E-Sports Triple Chip” setup. It includes three dedicated chips for network connectivity, display processing and touch input.
The G3 Network Chip is designed to improve connectivity during gaming. OnePlus claims that it can reduce average cellular gaming latency by 13.39%, improve Wi-Fi transmission stability by 18.5% and increase Wi-Fi throughput and packet acquisition by 11.5%.
The P4 Super Display Chip handles the high-refresh-rate display processing. OnePlus says the chip uses a revised manufacturing process, has 20% more transistors and offers 25% higher data throughput.
The T3 Lingxi Touch Chip is focused on touch response. It uses a dedicated touch processing pipeline designed for competitive shooters and supports customizable input profiles.
OnePlus has also announced game-level optimizations for its 185FPS technology. The supported titles include Peacekeeper Elite, Dark Zone: Breakout, Counter-Strike Online: Future Tactics, CrossFire Mobile, Firefly Assault and Naruto Mobile.
The OnePlus 16 has also been selected as the official tournament device for the upcoming season of the Peacekeeper Elite Professional League (PEL).
The company is expected to reveal the remaining details, including pricing, regional availability and complete storage configurations, at the OnePlus 16 launch event on October 12.
