Lava has launched the Shark 2 Pro 5G in India as its latest affordable 5G smartphone. The new phone comes with a 120Hz display, Unisoc T8200 chipset, 50-megapixel camera, and a large 6000mAh battery. It also runs Android 16 with a stock Android interface and comes with Lava’s Vayu AI assistant.
The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G was introduced as the Virat V1 Pro 5G for the online market last month. The company has now brought the smartphone to offline retail channels under the Shark 2 Pro name.
The Shark 2 Pro 5G features a 6.74-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 1612 × 720 pixels. The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling and animations smoother. The display offers up to 550 nits of brightness in HBM mode. The phone also has an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.
The smartphone is powered by the Unisoc T8200 chipset, which is based on a 6nm manufacturing process. It has an octa-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz and Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Lava claims that the phone can score more than 500,000 points in AnTuTu. It comes with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and supports up to 6GB of additional virtual RAM.
There is 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Users can also expand the storage up to 1TB using a microSD card. The phone uses a hybrid SIM slot, so users can either use two Nano SIM cards or one SIM card with a microSD card.
The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G has a 50-megapixel primary rear camera with AI features. The camera app includes Night Mode, HDR, Portrait, Film, Pro Mode, and Motion Photo modes. The rear camera can record videos in up to 2K resolution at 30fps. It also supports Dual-View Video, allowing users to record using the front and rear cameras together. For selfies and video calls, the phone has an 8-megapixel front camera.
The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G runs Android 16 with a stock Android interface. Lava says the software is bloatware-free, keeping the overall experience close to stock Android. The phone also comes with Vayu AI, Lava’s own AI assistant. The company has promised one major Android OS update and two years of security updates.
The device has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and also supports Face Unlock. The phone supports 5G on both SA and NSA networks, along with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS and GLONASS. It has a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
The phone packs a 6000mAh battery, which is one of its key highlights. It supports 18W wired charging and comes with a compatible charger in the box.
The Shark 2 Pro 5G measures 168.29 × 77.64 × 8.68mm and weighs 207 grams. The smartphone is available in Akash Blue and Nanda Silver colour options.
Lava is also offering its Free Service@Home program with the smartphone. The service provides on-site customer support across India.
