Beats has launched the Beats 360, its new flagship over-ear headphones. The headphones bring a modular design that lets users replace the ear cushions and headband padding. They also feature improved active noise cancellation, spatial audio, and support for both iPhone and Android users.
The Beats 360 are the company’s first headphones with user-swappable ear cushions and headband padding. Users can quickly twist off the ear cushions and replace them with different options.
Beats says the combinations can create up to 32 standard style options, or up to 256 combinations when different ear cushion and headband colors are mixed.
The headphones are available with two cushion types. Performance Knit cushions use memory foam wrapped in a breathable diamond-knit fabric. UltraPlush cushions use an engineered leather material designed to provide better isolation during longer listening sessions.
The headphones can detect which cushions are attached and automatically adjust the acoustic filters for ANC, Transparency mode, and EQ.
The Beats 360 uses custom 40mm drivers with dual neodymium ring magnets and a triple-layer diaphragm. Beats says the new driver delivers 12dB higher output than the driver used in the Beats Studio Pro, while also reducing distortion.
The headphones use a fourth-generation Beats processing platform for Adaptive ANC. Beats claims it can provide up to 1.75 times more noise cancellation than the Beats Studio Pro by adjusting the cancellation based on the surrounding environment and headphone fit.
There is also a Transparency mode for hearing ambient sounds without removing the headphones. Adaptive EQ continuously adjusts the sound based on the acoustic space between the ears and the headphones when ANC and Transparency mode are turned off.
The Beats 360 support personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking and Dolby Atmos.
The Beats 360 use Class 1 Bluetooth 5.3 and offer features across both Apple and Android devices.
Apple users get one-touch pairing, iCloud device syncing, automatic switching between Apple devices, hands-free Hey Siri support, Audio Sharing, Apple Find My, and dynamic head tracking.
Android users get Google Fast Pair, Audio Switch, Find Hub support, and access to the Beats app for settings, widgets, and firmware updates.
The headphones have nine digital MEMS microphones. Eight microphones are used for ANC, while three microphones are used for voice pickup, with two shared between the ANC and voice systems.
The headphones have four physical controls. The right ear cup has a volume rocker and a multifunction button for playback, calls, and track navigation. The left ear cup has the power button and a button to switch between listening modes.
The Beats 360 offer up to 32 hours of playback with ANC and spatial audio enabled. The company also claims up to 32 hours with Adaptive EQ when ANC is turned off. Fast Fuel charging can provide up to one hour of playback with a five-minute charge through USB-C.
The headphones do not support wired audio through USB-C or a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Beats 360 also have an IPX4 rating for water and sweat resistance. Beats says a custom internal firewall protects the electronics from liquid.
The headphones weigh 294.5 grams. The retail package includes the headphones with matching Performance Knit cushions and a woven ripstop fabric carrying case. A charging cable and power adapter are sold separately.
Beats 360 price in India
The Beats 360 is priced at Rs. 42,900 in India. Pre-orders are now open, while in-store availability starts September 24. The headphones are available in Black, Cloud, Pink, and Sky colors, with matching Performance Knit cushions.
Beats is also selling replacement cushion kits. Performance Knit and UltraPlush cushion kits are priced at Rs. 6,900 each in India.
Alongside the launch, Beats has reduced the price of the Beats Studio Pro to Rs. 32,900.
