Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait much longer to play 007 First Light. IO Interactive has delayed the Switch 2 version again, moving it from its previously planned summer 2026 release window to March 2027.
The studio has not announced an exact release date yet. According to IO Interactive, the additional time will be used to improve and polish the game’s performance on Nintendo’s console.
IO Interactive said it knows players have been waiting to experience Bond’s reimagined origin story on Switch 2. The developer decided to delay the release to make sure the game reaches the expected level of quality.

The delay is specifically focused on the performance of the Switch 2 version. This suggests the team is using the extra development time to optimize the game rather than releasing the port before it is ready.
This is also not the first delay for the Nintendo version. 007 First Light was originally planned to launch on Switch 2 alongside the other versions before the Nintendo release was moved to summer 2026. It has now slipped again to March 2027.
The delay creates a significant gap between the Switch 2 version and the rest of the game. 007 First Light launched on May 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Switch 2 players will now have to wait until March 2027 to play it on Nintendo’s platform.
Despite the delay, IO Interactive says development is progressing well. The studio said it was happy with the positive feedback received for 007 First Light at gamescom. The same demo will be playable at Tokyo Game Show this week, giving players another chance to see the Switch 2 version before its eventual release.
