vivo has launched the vivo S2 smartphone in India, marking the return of its S Series lineup in the country. Positioned in the premium mid-range segment, the new smartphone focuses on design, camera capabilities, battery life, and AI-powered features.
The smartphone features a 6.83-inch 3D curved AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 1260 × 2800 pixels. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and up to 3,000 nits local peak brightness.
For better eye comfort, the display also includes 4320Hz PWM dimming, which should help reduce flickering at lower brightness levels.
The vivo S2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo processor built on a 4nm process. The octa-core chipset offers clock speeds of up to 2.5GHz and is paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
vivo claims the smartphone can achieve an AnTuTu score of up to 970,000, positioning it as a capable performer for everyday usage, gaming, and multitasking.
To manage heat during heavy workloads, the device comes with an Ultra-Large VC Smart Cooling System featuring a 3,810 sq. mm vapor chamber and a total cooling area of more than 23,000 sq. mm.
The vivo S2 runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. It comes with several AI and productivity features, including Circle to Search with Google, Google Gemini support, AI writing and summarization tools, AI Captions for real-time transcription and translation, AI Smart Call Assistant, Origin Island for dynamic notifications, and Drag & Go for cross-app content transfer.
The phone also supports vivo Office Kit features such as screen mirroring, file transfer, task handoff, notes sync, and clipboard sharing with connected PCs.
It has a 50MP primary rear camera powered by Sony. It is paired with a 2MP depth sensor for portrait effects. On the front, the device features a 32MP selfie camera. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording, which is still uncommon in this segment. The phone also gets a Dual View Video mode that allows users to record from both front and rear cameras simultaneously.
The camera app includes modes such as Night, Portrait, Ultra HD Document, Slow Motion, Time Lapse, Supermoon, Pro, Food, and AI-powered features.
The phone also comes with symmetrical dual speakers for an improved audio experience while watching videos or playing games. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor and an IR sensor. Connectivity options are 5G SA/NSA, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and USB Type-C 2.0.
The smartphone packs a 7,050mAh battery and supports 44W FlashCharge fast charging. vivo has also added Battery Life Extender technol.ogy to improve long-term battery health.
The vivo S2 features a slim design with a thickness of 7.99mm and weighs around 197 grams. It comes in three color options: Silk White, Sapphire Blue, and Regal Bronze. The vivo S2 comes with IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings, making it more durable against water exposure and dust. The company also claims military-grade durability standards for improved reliability in daily usage.
