Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Veronica has crossed 2 million wishlists. It shows the massive excitement surrounding the long-awaited remake. The milestone comes just a few months after the game was officially revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026, where it was one of the biggest announcements of the event.
The game had already crossed 1 million wishlists shortly after its reveal. Now, it has doubled that number, making it one of the most anticipated games currently in development.
The strong wishlist growth becomes even more impressive when compared to Resident Evil Requiem. Despite receiving multiple trailers and gameplay details before launch, Requiem took around four months to reach the 2 million wishlist mark.
Resident Evil Veronica has achieved the same milestone with far less marketing. Capcom has not yet shared gameplay footage or opened pre-orders. It suggests that interest is being driven largely by the Resident Evil brand and fan demand for this remake.
Resident Evil Veronica has been one of the most requested remakes in the franchise for years. Originally released as Resident Evil Code: Veronica in 2000, the game follows Claire Redfield and Chris Redfield as they battle the Umbrella Corporation and face one of the series’ most iconic villains, Albert Wesker.
Many fans consider Code: Veronica one of the most important games in the Resident Evil timeline. However, unlike Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4, it never received a modern remake until now.
The excitement is also fueled by the success of Capcom’s previous remakes. It is important to note that Resident Evil 2 Remake has sold over 15 million copies, Resident Evil 4 Remake has crossed 10 million copies, and Resident Evil 3 Remake has sold more than 10 million copies. These numbers show how successful Capcom’s remake strategy has been. With Code: Veronica being one of the most requested titles, many fans expect it to perform similarly.
The franchise also continues to attract millions of players across platforms. On Steam alone, Resident Evil Village reached a peak of over 106,000 concurrent players, while Resident Evil 4 Remake peaked at more than 168,000 concurrent players. These numbers do not include players on PlayStation and Xbox, suggesting the overall audience is significantly larger.
With such a strong history of commercial success and one of the most requested remakes finally becoming a reality, it is no surprise that Resident Evil Veronica has already crossed 2 million wishlists months before its expected release.
Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Veronica is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Although the reveal trailer mainly used a first-person perspective, the game will feature third-person gameplay, similar to the recent Resident Evil remakes.
The project is being led by Yasuhiro Anpo, who directed the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes. Kazunori Kadoi, who also worked on those games, returns as associate director.
Capcom has only confirmed a 2027 release window. However, reports suggest the game could launch during the first half of 2027. Looking at Capcom’s release pattern, a launch before the end of the company’s current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2027, appears likely. The publisher has often scheduled major releases toward the end of its fiscal year to strengthen annual financial results.
