Motorola has launched the new Moto G Max in India, bringing a large 7,000mAh battery, a 120Hz display and the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset to its G-series lineup. The smartphone also comes with Android 16 out of the box and uses a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA sensor for its primary rear camera.

The Moto G Max comes with a 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 1,050 nits of peak brightness in High Brightness Mode.

Motorola has also included its Water Touch technology, which allows the touchscreen to remain responsive when the display or user’s fingers are wet. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

The Moto G Max is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 mobile platform, which is built on a 4nm process. The chipset has an octa-core CPU with four cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores at up to 1.8GHz, along with an Adreno GPU.

The phone comes with 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Motorola also includes its RAM Boost feature, which can use part of the internal storage as virtual RAM.

The Moto G Max runs Android 16 out of the box. It also comes with Google Gemini features and Motorola’s Moto Secure and ThinkShield security tools. The phone integrates several Google Photos AI editing tools, including Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Reimagine, Auto Frame and Portrait Light adjustments.

Motorola has promised two major Android OS upgrades and three years of regular security updates for the smartphone.

The Moto G Max has a dual-camera setup on the back. The main camera uses a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. It uses Quad Pixel technology to combine pixels and improve low-light performance.

The main camera is joined by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 118-degree field of view and an f/2.2 aperture. The camera system also includes a flicker detector and can record videos at up to 1080p.

On the front, Motorola has listed a 32-megapixel camera with Quad Pixel technology, although its detailed specifications list an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Motorola also says the phone includes a 2-in-1 ambient light sensor for exposure calibration and autofocus assistance.

The phone has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, Hi-Res Audio and dual microphones. Motorola has also retained a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone has a satin-textured rear finish designed to reduce visible fingerprints and smudges. It is available in Stargazer, Alaskan Blue and Malaga finishes.

The Moto G Max carries an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes. It also meets MIL-STD-810H standards for resistance to shocks and vibrations.

The phone uses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication and also supports facial recognition. For connectivity, the smartphone supports 5G SA and NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and USB Type-C.

The biggest highlight of the Moto G Max is its 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. Motorola is using silicon-carbon battery technology to offer higher energy density while keeping the phone within a conventional smartphone form factor.

The battery supports Motorola’s TurboPower fast charging. The provided specifications list 30W charging, while the launch information mentions 33W wired charging. Motorola rates the battery for up to 1,000 charge cycles while maintaining standard operational capacity.

With a 7,000mAh battery, the Moto G Max is clearly aimed at users who want longer battery life without relying on a power bank during the day.

Moto G Max price in India

The Moto G Max is priced at Rs. 27,999 in India for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. The smartphone will go on sale from August 20 through Flipkart, Motorola’s online store and offline retail stores.

As part of the launch offers, buyers can get a Rs. 1,000 instant discount when paying with eligible Axis Bank or ICICI Bank cards. Motorola is also offering an additional Rs. 1,000 discount on exchange.

At this price, the Moto G Max stands out mainly because of its 7,000mAh battery, 120Hz display and silicon-carbon battery technology. The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, UFS 3.1 storage and Android 16 also give it a more modern hardware and software package than many older Moto G-series models.
