Mortal Shell 2 beta is now available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The beta was released for PC earlier, and console players can now try the game ahead of its official launch later this month.
The beta lets players experience the first three hours of the game. It begins with the Prologue and continues into the first main region, giving players an early look at the upcoming Souls-like action RPG.
Players take on the role of the Harbinger, whose mission is to recover the Ova of the Undermether while battling dangerous enemies. During the journey, players can inhabit powerful Shells of fallen warriors. The beta includes Tiel the Acolyte, which is the first playable Shell. The full game will feature eight different Shells, each offering its own combat style and abilities.
The beta also supports progress transfer to the full game, but with some limitations. Players who reach Marrow Keep can skip the Prologue in the full game. Taking part in the beta also unlocks the Flayed Harbinger skin as a reward. However, Shells, weapons, currency, and other collected items will be reset before the final release.
Mortal Shell 2 launches on August 20th for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will be priced at $49.99. Even though it carries the “2” in its name, the game is designed as a standalone sequel, so new players can jump in without playing the original title first.
