Lava has launched the Bold N4 Lite in India as its latest entry-level smartphone. The new model focuses on basic smartphone needs with a large display, a 5,000mAh battery, Android 16 Go Edition and a relatively clean software experience.
The Bold N4 Lite comes with a 6.75-inch qHD LCD display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The large screen should make the phone suitable for watching videos and browsing the web, although the low resolution is clearly a compromise made to keep the price down.
Lava has also given the smartphone a MIL-STD-810H durability rating. This is intended to provide additional resistance to everyday wear and tear, which could be useful for users who want a basic phone that can handle regular use. The phone will be available in Empire Gold and Ghost Silver colour options.
The smartphone is powered by the octa-core 28nm UNISOC 9863A processor with a PowerVR GE8322 GPU. It comes with 3GB of physical RAM and supports another 3GB of virtual RAM.
Storage is limited to 32GB, but users can expand it by up to 64GB using a microSD card. The phone also has a dedicated microSD slot alongside support for two nano-SIM cards.
The phone runs Android 16 Go Edition, which is designed for entry-level devices with limited hardware. Lava says the phone comes with a clean software experience without pre-installed bloatware. This could be an advantage at this price, where manufacturers often have to make compromises in hardware.
The company has also promised two years of security updates. While that is not particularly long compared with more expensive smartphones, it gives buyers some assurance that the device will continue receiving security fixes after purchase.
The phone has a single 8-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash. There is a 5-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
The device also includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is a useful addition at this price point. Audio features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio and a bottom-firing speaker. Connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and USB Type-C.
The Bold N4 Lite packs a 5,000mAh battery and comes with a 10W charger in the box.
Lava Bold N4 Lite price and availability
The Lava Bold N4 Lite is priced at Rs. 8,099 in India. As part of the launch offer, it will be available for Rs. 7,999. The smartphone will be sold through Amazon.in starting September 3 at 12 noon. It will be available in Empire Gold and Ghost Silver colours.
Lava is also offering its Free Service @ Home program with the phone, which provides doorstep service support.
