Xiaomi has announced support for Apple’s AirDrop through Quick Share. This makes it easier for users to share files between Xiaomi devices and Apple products. The company revealed the feature through its HyperOS account on X.
The update allows Xiaomi users to transfer photos, videos, documents, and other files directly to nearby iPhones, iPads, and Macs using Quick Share. Xiaomi has not shared a list of supported devices yet, but the announcement video featured Xiaomi 17T Pro.
The move is part of a broader push to improve file sharing between Android and Apple devices. For years, AirDrop has been one of the biggest advantages of Apple’s ecosystem. That allowed users to quickly send files between iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Android users, on the other hand, often had to rely on cloud services, messaging apps, or third-party tools when sharing files with Apple devices.
That gap is now starting to close.
Google recently added AirDrop compatibility to Quick Share. So, Android users can discover and transfer files to nearby Apple devices. Several smartphone brands have already started adopting the feature.
Google Pixel devices were among the first to receive support. Samsung has also rolled out the feature on newer Galaxy smartphones and is expected to expand it to more devices. Other Android brands, including OPPO, vivo, HONOR, and OnePlus, are also bringing support to select models.
With Xiaomi now joining the list, more Android users will be able to exchange files with Apple devices without needing extra apps or complicated workarounds.
Xiaomi has not revealed when the feature will reach all supported devices.
