Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 17T in India as its latest premium smartphone. The new phone focuses heavily on photography and comes with Leica-branded cameras, a compact design, a high-quality AMOLED display, and a large 6500mAh battery.
The Xiaomi 17T also brings the new MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor, Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, and IP68 water and dust resistance. The smartphone will be available in two storage variants.
The Xiaomi 17T features a premium design with micro-curved edges that make it comfortable to hold and use with one hand. Xiaomi has also added a brushed finish around the frame for a refined look. The phone is available in Violet, Blue, and Black colour options. It measures 157.6 x 75.2 x 8.17mm and weighs 200 grams. The device also comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The Xiaomi 17T sports a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a resolution of 2756 x 1268 pixels. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3200Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate for smooth scrolling and responsive touch input. It supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and offers up to 3500 nits peak brightness for better outdoor visibility. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Xiaomi has also introduced its Vision Care technology, which automatically adjusts display settings to reduce eye strain. The screen features 3840Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming, helping reduce flicker during prolonged usage.
The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor built on a 4nm process. The chipset features an octa-core CPU clocked up to 3.4GHz and is paired with the Arm Mali-G720 MC8 GPU. To handle gaming and demanding workloads, Xiaomi has included its 3D IceLoop cooling system that helps maintain stable performance by efficiently managing heat.
The phone comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and offers up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. Buyers can choose between 256GB and 512GB storage variants.
The Xiaomi 17T runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Xiaomi has also bundled several software features aimed at improving productivity and user experience. Buyers will receive a three-month subscription to Google AI Pro, which includes advanced Gemini AI features and 5TB of cloud storage.
The device also comes with Xiaomi’s ecosystem features for seamless connectivity across compatible Xiaomi devices.
The smartphone features a triple rear camera setup developed in partnership with Leica. The primary camera uses a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 800 sensor with OIS and a Leica Summilux lens. It is accompanied by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with OIS. The camera supports 5x optical zoom, up to 10x optical-grade zoom, and up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom. It can also capture macro shots from as close as 30cm. The third camera is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.
Xiaomi has also introduced Leica Live Moment, a feature that captures moments before and after pressing the shutter button to create more dynamic photographs. Leica Live Portrait mode adds natural background blur while preserving motion.
For selfies and video calls, the smartphone features a 32-megapixel front camera. The rear camera can record videos at up to 4K 60fps, while the front camera supports 4K 30fps recording.
The Xiaomi 17T comes with dual stereo speakers and supports Dolby Atmos. It also offers Hi-Res Audio support for an enhanced multimedia experience. For security, Xiaomi has equipped the phone with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device also includes an infrared sensor for controlling compatible home appliances.
The Xiaomi 17T supports 5G SA/NSA networks and Dual 4G VoLTE. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, GPS, NavIC, Galileo, GLONASS, Beidou, QZSS, and a USB Type-C port.
The smartphone packs a large 6500mAh battery based on silicon-carbon battery technology. Xiaomi claims this technology offers higher capacity without significantly increasing the phone’s size. The phone supports 67W HyperCharge fast charging and also supports 50W PPS charging, making it compatible with supported third-party chargers.

The smartphone will go on sale in India starting June 10 through Mi.com, Amazon.in, and Xiaomi retail stores.
