Valve has officially revealed the pricing and configurations of its upcoming Steam Machine gaming hardware. The company will offer four variants of the device, with differences mainly in storage capacity and whether a Steam Controller is included.
The base Steam Machine model is priced at $1,049 and comes with a 512GB NVMe SSD. This version does not include a Steam Controller. Users can expand storage through the built-in microSD card slot.
A second 512GB variant is available for $1,128. It offers the same hardware and storage but includes the new Steam Controller.
For users who need more storage, Valve is also offering two 2TB models. The $1,349 version comes without a controller but includes two additional faceplates, including a red fabric finish and a solid walnut option. The highest-end model costs $1,428 and bundles the 2TB storage with the Steam Controller.
Valve has also confirmed that the Steam Controller will be sold separately for $100. Buyers who choose a bundle with the controller effectively get it for an additional $80.
The company acknowledged that the pricing may seem high for the hardware specifications. According to Valve, rising component costs and ongoing supply chain challenges played a major role in determining the final price.
Valve said that its original pricing goals were no longer achievable due to increased manufacturing costs, particularly for memory and other key components.

All Steam Machine variants feature identical internal hardware. The system is powered by a semi-custom AMD processor based on the Zen 4 architecture with six cores and 12 threads. Graphics are handled by an RDNA 3 GPU with 28 compute units. The device also includes 16GB DDR5 memory and 8GB GDDR6 VRAM.
The Steam Machine runs Valve’s Linux-based SteamOS operating system. Connectivity options include a 1 Gigabit Ethernet port, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, one USB-C port, and four USB-A ports.
Interested buyers can reserve a Steam Machine now for a chance to receive a pre-order invitation. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on June 25, while shipping is expected to start on June 29. Valve said purchase invitations will be sent in a randomized order.
