Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios have announced that Halo: Campaign Evolved will launch on July 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will also be available on Game Pass from day one.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a full remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign. It brings one of gaming’s most iconic shooters to modern platforms with upgraded visuals and gameplay improvements.

One of the biggest additions is Operation: METEORITE, a brand-new three-mission story campaign included with every edition of the game. Set a year before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, the story follows Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson on a secret UNSC mission aboard a Covenant research vessel.

The new campaign introduces fresh locations, new enemy types, additional weapons from across the Halo franchise, and new combat scenarios. Players will also encounter the Brute Berserker, a new enemy that appears in the expansion.

While the remake stays faithful to the original 10-mission campaign, Operation: METEORITE gives longtime Halo fans a reason to return by expanding the story and exploring previously unseen events involving some of the franchise’s most beloved characters.

The project was developed in collaboration with sci-fi author Troy Denning, who has written several well-known Halo novels over the years. His involvement helped shape the story and connect it to the wider Halo universe.

Pre-orders are now live across PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. Every edition includes the original campaign and the new Operation: METEORITE story arc.

Halo remains one of Xbox’s most important franchises, and Halo: Campaign Evolved looks like a major celebration of the series’ legacy. The addition of a completely new story campaign, alongside a full remake of the original game, could make this one of the biggest Halo releases in years.

The game launches worldwide on July 28, while Premium Edition owners can start playing up to five days earlier on July 23.
