Square Enix has officially announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. The game is set to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and Xbox PC.

The announcement confirms that the trilogy’s story will conclude in 2027, which also marks the 30th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy VII.

In Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the world stands on the brink of destruction as a giant Meteor threatens the planet. At the same time, powerful planetary guardians known as Weapons awaken and begin causing widespread devastation. Cloud Strife and his companions must take on Sephiroth in a final battle that will determine the fate of the world.

The game will feature fully explorable world map. Players will be able to travel across the entire planet aboard the iconic Highwind airship. The game features seamless air-to-land exploration, allowing players to parachute from the airship and enter locations without loading screens.

Combat continues the series’ hybrid system that combines real-time action with command-based strategy. Players can switch between party members during battles, use Tactical Mode, and execute powerful synergy attacks.

For the first time in the remake trilogy, Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind will become fully playable party members. Vincent specializes in gun-based combat and beast transformations, while Cid uses high-speed lance attacks and aerial combat techniques.

Square Enix is also introducing a new customization system called Fits. Players can equip different outfits that change a character’s combat style and unlock unique abilities. Some outfits are inspired by classic Final Fantasy jobs such as Warrior and Black Mage, giving players more freedom to customize their builds alongside weapons and Materia.

The game will feature battles against the legendary Weapons, massive creatures created by the planet to defend itself from Meteor. These giant enemies are expected to serve as some of the biggest threats in the game.
