Frontier Foundry and Complex Games have announced Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch, a new turn-based tactical RPG set in the Warhammer 40K universe.

The game is a direct sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters and is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The companies have not announced a release date yet.

In Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch, players take control of the Imperium’s elite alien hunters as an Inquisitor of the Deathwatch. Players will build squads, customize units, and make tactical decisions while fighting across war-torn sectors under attack from Genestealer Hivecults, Orks, T’au forces, and Chaos enemies.

The developers say the sequel expands on the tactical systems from Daemonhunters with deeper squad customization, broader class identities, and a larger variety of missions and enemy types.

Players will be able to recruit and customize elite specialists from different Chapters of the Imperium. The game allows players to combine weapons, abilities, and unit classes to create squads tailored for different combat situations.

Combat will focus heavily on positioning, timing, squad synergy, and environmental strategy. Players can use terrain to gain advantages and carefully plan attacks against enemy forces.

The game also introduces several new vehicles, including the Redemptor Dreadnought, Scout Sentinel, and the Leman Russ tank. These vehicles will add heavier firepower and more tactical options during missions.

According to the developers, the game features seven different enemy factions across the Tyrian expanse. Each faction will have unique combat behavior and tactical challenges, forcing players to constantly adapt their strategies.

Another major addition is the new Skirmish Mode. This standalone battle mode lets players create custom encounters, experiment with squad setups, and test strategies against different factions without progressing through the main campaign.
