Motorola has now introduced the global version of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro, just days after launching the phone in India. The global model brings a few important upgrades, especially in the camera and charging features, while keeping most of the core hardware the same.

The most notable upgrade is the addition of a new telephoto camera. Motorola has added a 50MP periscope lens with 3.5x optical zoom and up to 50x “Super Zoom.” This is a major upgrade over the India variant, which does not include a telephoto camera and instead offers a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens.

Another key upgrade in the global model is wireless charging support. The global Edge 70 Pro supports 15W wireless charging along with 5W reverse wireless charging. These features are missing in the India version, which only supports 90W wired fast charging.

Apart from these differences, most of the specifications remain the same. The global variant features a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors, and up to 5200 nits peak brightness. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection, a slim design, and IP68/IP69 ratings along with MIL-STD-810H certification.

The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM. While the India model offers up to 256GB storage, the global variant goes further with options up to 512GB and even 1TB in some markets.

It packs a large 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 90W fast charging. Other features like Android 16, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and connectivity options remain unchanged.

Motorola has also introduced new color options for global users. While the India variant comes in Pantone Lily White, Titan, and Tea, the global version adds two more finishes, including Pantone Chicory Coffee and Pantone Zinfandel. These new options bring different textures like wood and silk-inspired finishes.

Since the global variant has better specs, it is also costlier than the Indian variant. The phone is priced at £749.99 in the UK and around €799 in Europe, which is significantly more than the India starting price of Rs. 38,999.

Although some people are complaining about offering a toned-down version of Edge 70 Pro in India, they understand the positioning. The company is positioning the phone differently in different markets. In India, the focus is on aggressive pricing and value. In global markets, the same phone is positioned as a more premium device.

The global model offers more. But in terms of value, the India variant still makes sense. It delivers strong performance, a big battery, and a premium display at a much lower price.
