NetEase Games has announced a major anti-cheat crackdown for Marvel Rivals after detecting a wave of newly updated cheats and unauthorized third-party tools following a recent weekend update.

In a post shared on X and the game’s official website, the developers confirmed that accounts found using cheats, illicit assist software, exploits, or modified game clients have been permanently banned. The studio also warned that stricter punishments, including device bans and IP bans, could follow for repeat offenders, cheat distributors, and users attempting to bypass penalties.

According to the developers, the latest enforcement action was triggered after internal telemetry systems detected suspicious activity spreading across the game. The studio described the incident as a “targeted purge” aimed at stopping players who were disrupting fair matches using unauthorized tools.

The developers explained that Marvel Rivals uses multiple anti-cheat systems, including abnormal behavior detection, historical account reviews, automated cheat signature tracking, and manual verification. The company said signatures related to the latest cheats have already been added to its automated detection systems, meaning future users could face instant permanent bans.

One of the most notable parts of the announcement addressed recent rumors circulating online about disabling the game’s anti-cheat using launch parameters. The studio strongly denied those claims and clarified that the anti-cheat system launches alongside the game client and cannot be turned off independently.

According to the developers, the launch parameter being discussed only hides the anti-cheat pop-up window and does not disable the anti-cheat protection itself in any way.

The company also encouraged players to report suspicious behavior during matches and warned users not to download, buy, distribute, or use cheat software or scripts. A complete list of permanently banned accounts from this enforcement wave has also been published on the official website.

The crackdown comes as competitive multiplayer games continue to face growing problems with cheats, hardware exploits, scripts, and third-party assistance tools. Developers across the industry have been increasing anti-cheat efforts in recent months to protect ranked play and competitive integrity.
