Apple has officially announced the schedule for WWDC26, its annual developer event that will run from June 8 to June 12. Like every year, the event will focus on upcoming software updates for Apple devices, developer tools, and new technologies. This year, AI is expected to be a major part of the announcements.
WWDC26 will begin on June 8 with Apple’s main keynote at 10 a.m. PDT. The company is expected to reveal the next versions of iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and other software platforms during the event.
Apple also confirmed that the keynote will include updates related to AI and new developer tools.
Users will be able to watch the keynote live on Apple’s website, the Apple TV app, and Apple’s YouTube channel. A replay will also be available after the livestream ends.
Later on the same day, Apple will host the Platforms State of the Union session. This presentation usually focuses more on technical details, APIs, frameworks, and features aimed at app developers.
The company said developers will get access to more than 100 technical sessions throughout the week. These sessions will cover app development, design, machine learning, graphics, gaming, and Apple platform technologies.
Apple will also host online Group Labs where developers can directly interact with Apple engineers and designers through Q&A sessions.
The company is additionally inviting more than 1,000 developers and students to attend a special in-person event at Apple Park on June 8.
Apple also shared details about this year’s Apple Design Awards. The awards recognize apps and games across categories like innovation, visuals, interaction, and social impact. Apple has already revealed the finalists, while winners will be announced later.
The company also highlighted its Swift Student Challenge program. Apple said 350 students were selected as winners this year, including 50 Distinguished Winners who will visit Cupertino during WWDC week.
This year’s WWDC is expected to be especially important because of the growing competition in AI. Companies like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI have been rapidly expanding AI features across their platforms.
Because of that, many people expect Apple to focus heavily on improving Apple Intelligence and adding more AI-powered features across its ecosystem.
There is also speculation that Apple could reveal smarter Siri features, new AI tools for developers, and deeper on-device AI integration across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
WWDC has always been one of Apple’s biggest software events, but this year’s conference could be even more important as the company tries to strengthen its position in the AI race.
