Acer has officially introduced the new Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld in global markets. The company’s latest portable gaming device is designed to compete with devices like the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and MSI Claw.

The Predator Atlas 8 will go on sale globally later this year in a Black colour option. Acer says the handheld will launch in North America, EMEA, and Australia starting in October 2026 through its online store. The company has not revealed pricing yet, and there is currently no confirmation about an India launch.

The handheld runs Windows 11 Home and features an 8-inch WUXGA IPS touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. The panel supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and 100 percent sRGB colour coverage. The 16:10 aspect ratio should also make the device more comfortable for modern PC games and cloud gaming services.

Acer is offering multiple hardware configurations. The base model comes with an Intel Arc G3 processor paired with Intel Arc B370 graphics. Higher-end variants can be configured with the more powerful Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and Intel Arc B390 GPU. The device supports up to 24GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage.

Acer says the Predator Atlas 8 uses a dual-fan cooling system featuring one Predator AeroBlade metal fan and another plastic fan to keep temperatures under control during long gaming sessions.

The control layout also looks heavily inspired by Xbox-style controllers. The handheld includes ABXY buttons, a D-Pad, full-size analogue sticks, hall-effect triggers, bumper buttons, macro buttons, adjustable trigger switches, and a dedicated Xbox Game Bar Widget button. Acer has also included a PredatorSense button for quick system controls.

For audio, the device features dual 2W speakers. Battery capacity goes up to 80Wh, although Acer will also offer a smaller 60Wh version. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The handheld weighs around 810 grams, which makes it heavier than some competitors. However, that extra weight may partly come from the larger battery and cooling system.

The handheld gaming market has become far more competitive over the past few years. What started mainly with the Steam Deck has now evolved into a serious category with multiple PC brands entering the segment. Companies are now trying different approaches with screen sizes, cooling systems, processor choices, and detachable controllers.

Acer’s strategy seems focused on raw hardware performance and premium gaming features. The inclusion of Intel Arc graphics, high-refresh-rate display, Wi-Fi 7, and advanced cooling suggests the company is targeting gamers who want portable PC gaming without major compromises.

More details about pricing and availability are expected closer to the October launch window.
