TECNO has launched its new budget 5G smartphone, the TECNO POP X 5G, in India. The device focuses on long battery life, durable build, and improved connectivity features. It is aimed at users who need a reliable phone for everyday use, especially in areas with weak network coverage.
The smartphone has a slim 8.18mm profile. It uses a 6-series aerospace-grade aluminum camera module for better strength. The device has been drop-tested and comes with an IP64 rating, which offers protection against dust and water splashes.
TECNO POP X 5G features a 6.78-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It offers up to 560 nits of brightness. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor, built on a 6nm process. It comes with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card.
It runs Android 16 with HiOS 16. The smartphone also includes several AI-powered features. These include AI Noise Cancellation for clearer calls and a WhatsApp Assistant for easier communication. There is an AI Writing Assistant for basic tasks and Circle to Search for quick lookups. For photography, users get tools like AI Eraser 2.0, AI Image Extender, and AI Flash Snap.
It has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front camera.
It supports 5G with 4×4 MIMO and carrier aggregation for stable network performance. The device also introduces FreeLink Communication. This feature allows users to connect with nearby devices without using a mobile network. It can support voice calls, messaging, and file sharing within a range of up to 1.5 km in open areas. This can be useful in places like basements, construction sites, or remote locations where network signals are weak.
Other connectivity options are Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and USB Type-C. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
TECNO POP X 5G comes with a large 6500mAh battery. The company claims it is designed to handle extended usage without frequent charging. It also supports 45W fast charging, which should help users quickly top up the battery when needed.
The TECNO POP X 5G is priced at Rs. 15,999 for the 4GB + 128GB variant, while the 6GB + 128GB version costs Rs. 17,999. It will be available exclusively on Amazon starting April 24.
