Century Games and Game Blender Studio have officially announced that their 3D fighting game Starward is coming to PlayStation 5 on April 16. The game is already available on PC, iOS, and Android, but this marks its arrival on a major console platform.
Players can now wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store ahead of launch.
Starward takes clear inspiration from Gundam-style arena fighters, especially the fast-paced, skill-based combat seen in arcade titles. It offers quick and intense matches. Most battles last around three minutes, which keeps the action tight and competitive. The focus is on movement, positioning, and timing rather than long, drawn-out fights.
Players get access to a full set of combat mechanics. This includes beam rifles, machine guns, charge attacks, blocking, dashing, and close-range fighting. The idea is simple. Easy to pick up, but hard to master.
Character design is another highlight of the game. Instead of traditional mechs, the game features “mecha girls” with unique personalities and combat styles. Some characters are built for close combat, while others focus on ranged attacks. This creates a clear role system within matches. You can play aggressively as a frontline fighter or support your team from a distance.
The roster also brings variety in design. You will see characters inspired by different themes, including futuristic armor, fantasy elements, and cultural styles. This adds visual diversity and makes each character feel distinct.
Starward offers a mix of game modes to keep things interesting. The core experience revolves around one-on-one and two-on-two battles. There is also an arcade mode for players who prefer a more casual or solo experience.
Each character has a cost value based on their strength. These values range from 1.5 to 3.0. When building a team, players need to balance these costs to stay within limits. This adds a layer of strategy. You cannot just pick the strongest characters. You need to think about team composition and how different roles work together.
Starward has already been available on Steam, App Store, and Google Play. Now making it available to PlayStation 5 makes sense. Console players also look for competitive multiplayer games and Starward fits that space well.
