Redmi has increased the prices of several of its smartphones in India, adding to the growing trend of price hikes across the industry. The models affected include the Redmi Note 15, Redmi 15, and Redmi 15C. The revised prices are already live on the official website.
This price hike affects devices that were launched just a few months ago. It shows that even recently launched phones are not safe from rising costs.
The Redmi Note 15, which launched in January at Rs 22,999 for the base variant, now starts at Rs 24,999. The higher 256GB variant has seen an even bigger jump, going from Rs 24,999 to Rs 27,999.
The Redmi 15 has received one of the biggest changes. Its base variant, which was priced at Rs 14,999 at launch, now costs Rs 18,499. Higher variants have also seen similar increases.
The budget-focused Redmi 15C is no longer as affordable as before. Its base variant has moved from Rs 12,499 to Rs 15,499, with other variants also seeing price hikes of up to Rs 4,000.

The most obvious reason is rising component costs. Over the past few months, the entire smartphone industry has been dealing with higher prices for chips, displays, and other key parts. This has already resulted in new launches becoming more expensive. Now, brands are also adjusting prices of existing models to maintain margins. I have already written a detailed article on how consumers are already paying prices of AI boom even before AI has proven its worth.
This could also be a part of a repositioning strategy. By increasing prices, Redmi could be trying to shift these devices into a slightly higher segment.
For consumers, this changes the value equation for Redmi Note series. The Redmi Note 15 was considered a solid option for its display, design, and overall experience. But at Rs 24,999, its weaker performance compared to rivals becomes more noticeable. It still works well for regular users, but power users may start looking at alternatives. Earlier, prices usually dropped a few months after launch. Now, we are seeing the opposite. Prices are going up, even for existing models. This could become a new trend if component costs continue to rise.
If you were already planning to buy one of these devices, the new pricing makes the decision harder. At these prices, it makes sense to compare alternatives in the same segment before making a choice.
