realme has officially announced the launch of its latest smartphone, the realme 16 5G, in India. The device is aimed at younger consumers and focuses on high-resolution portrait photography, long-lasting battery life, and a lightweight design.

realme has followed its “Air Design” philosophy, which balances a large battery with a slim and lightweight profile. The phone measures 158.3×75.1×8.1mm and weighs 183g. The bottom bezel measures just 2.23mm. The rear panel has a horizontal camera bar layout with a blue-gold gradient “Gleaming Wings” finish and a curved anti-fingerprint coating. The device is rated IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K for dust and water resistance

It features a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with 2372×1080 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 4200 nits peak brightness. The display supports the 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and comes with DT Star D+ glass protection.

The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo 6nm processor, with 2x Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and 6x Cortex-A55 cores at 2GHz, paired with an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It comes with 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS 2.2 storage, expandable via microSD.

The realme 16 5G comes with a dual 50MP camera setup designed to enhance both photography and video capabilities. The rear camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX852 sensor with a 1/2.93-inch size and f/1.8 aperture. It also has autofocus support and is paired with a 2MP monochrome depth sensor. The front camera is another 50MP sensor.

The device has a rear selfie mirror to help capture selfies using the main camera. This is complemented by an Aura Ring Flash for better lighting, voice countdown, and “Say Hi” gesture recognition for hands-free photos. The LumaColor IMAGE engine and Vibe Master Mode help customize image tones, while AI Edit Genie enables tools like AI Inspiration, AI StyleMe, and AI LightMe for post-processing. For video, AI Instant Clip can generate short clips automatically from selected images and footage.

The phone runs Android 15 with realme UI 6.0, which includes the Flux Engine for smoother performance and a 72-month fluency protection plan.

Other features include dual SIM support, in-display fingerprint scanner, infrared sensor, stereo speakers with Hi-Res audio, and a host of connectivity options including 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB Type-C 2.0.

It packs a 7000mAh battery which promises to retain 80% of its capacity even after 1,600 full charge cycles with the Titan Long-Life Algorithm. The phone supports 60W fast charging, reaching 50% in 30 minutes and 100% in 74 minutes. It also supports bypass charging and reverse charging.
