For the past few months, things have not looked normal for OnePlus. The company kept saying everything is fine, but reports kept suggesting otherwise. Now, a new development makes the situation even more interesting.
According to fresh reports, OnePlus has reportedly merged operations with Realme. This includes both global business and China operations. The information comes from Digital Chat Station, a well-known source on Weibo. According to the report, OnePlus and Realme have officially merged and will now operate under a new “sub-product center.”

If I simplify, both brands will now share internal teams. This includes product planning, marketing, and even after-sales services. So, the backend is getting combined, even if the brands still look separate on the outside.
Another report says that these merged teams will report to Pete Lau. He has been leading OnePlus since the beginning, so this part is not surprising.
There is also mention of “reuse of product lines.” This basically means we could see more shared devices between the two brands.
If you have been following OnePlus closely, this does not feel sudden. OPPO already has control over both OnePlus and Realme. Over the last few years, OnePlus has slowly moved closer to Oppo. They initially merged the software, and then the teams got aligned. Realme also went through a similar integration with Oppo. So now, this looks like the next logical step. They are bringing both brands together to reduce duplication.
There have already been reports that OnePlus might reduce or shut down operations in some European markets. The company also confirmed that it is “evaluating” its future in certain regions. At the same time, there have been talks about job cuts and restructuring.
Now add this merger on top, and it clearly shows that something big is happening internally.
Realme still operates in Europe and other regions, but it is not strong in the United States. OnePlus, on the other hand, has been present in the US for years. So, now we want to know what happens next.
It is important to note that OnePlus has not introduced any major global product in recent months. That is unusual for a brand that used to launch devices regularly. This kind of silence is not normal.
Right now, nothing is officially confirmed by the companies. We are waiting for official confirmation.
