Motorola has introduced the moto g87, the latest addition to its G series lineup. The new phone arrives as the successor to the moto g77 and brings upgrades in camera, display, and durability. The device is aimed at users who want strong hardware without going into flagship pricing.

The phone comes with a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola claims this panel offers better sharpness compared to standard Full HD screens.

The display also supports up to 5000 nits peak brightness, which is unusually high for this segment. This should help with outdoor visibility, though real-world performance will depend on how often this peak brightness is actually used.

The display panel has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection to protect it from scratches.

The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor with 5G support. It offers up to 12GB RAM, with virtual expansion up to 24GB. Storage goes up to 256GB, with support for microSD expansion.

The device runs Android 16 with Motorola’s custom features like Hello UX, Moto Secure, and Smart Connect. It also includes Google features like Gemini integration and Circle to Search.

It features a 200MP main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It also has 8MP ultra-wide lens and 32MP camera for selfies and video calls. Motorola has also added several software features like Auto Smile Capture and Portrait Mode with multiple focal lengths.

Motorola says the audio output is up to 280% louder than the previous model. The phone includes stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio support.

The device has an in-display fingeprint sensor. Connectivity options are 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS + GLONASS, USB Type-C, and NFC. The device packs a 5200mAh battery with 30W Turbo Charging.

The moto g87 comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. It also has MIL-STD-810H certification for drop resistance. The company says the phone can survive drops from up to 1.2 meters.

The moto g87 starts at 399 Euros. It will be available in EMEA and Latin America regions in the coming weeks. There is no confirmation yet about availability in India.
