Wales Interactive has announced that its upcoming co-op survival shooter Hazard Levels will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam on April 30. The game will remain in Early Access for further development, with a full release planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC in Q4 2026.
Hazard Levels mixes co-op gameplay with physics-based mechanics and a unique setting. Players enter unstable “rifts” filled with strange environments and dangerous creatures. The goal is simple. Go in, collect resources, and make it back alive.
But the twist is what makes it interesting. All the items you collect are used to run a secret brewery hidden beneath a British pub. This adds a layer of humor and creativity to an otherwise dark survival experience.
The game supports up to four players in co-op, along with proximity voice chat. This means communication depends on how close you are to your teammates, adding tension during missions. Each expedition is procedurally generated. So no two runs will feel the same. Layouts, hazards, and enemies keep changing, forcing players to adapt every time.
There are no traditional weapons in the game. Players use tools like the Gravity Gauntlet to grab and throw objects. Survival depends more on strategy and teamwork than direct combat. Every rift is filled with unpredictable creatures. Players need to observe their behavior and avoid them rather than just fight. The game also includes tools like a Rift Scanner to locate anomalies and devices to open portals. These portals lead to new dimensions with even more challenges.
Another unique feature is “perk cocktails.” These are special drinks made from collected ingredients. Some give helpful abilities, while others create chaos, which adds a risk-reward element.
Between missions, players return to a central hub called The Fox Hole Arms. It looks like a normal British pub, but it hides a secret research facility. Here, players can prepare for the next run, customize their character, and manage collected resources.
Co-op survival games are getting crowded right now. Many of them follow the same formula, and not all of them manage to stand out. Hazard Levels has a chance because it is doing a few things differently. The no-gun approach, physics-based gameplay, and strange brewery concept give it personality. It feels like a mix of Lethal Company and Deep Rock Galactic, but with its own twist.
These games live or die based on how fun they are with friends. If the mechanics feel smooth and the randomness does not become frustrating, this could build a strong community during Early Access.
