Cursor has entered into a major partnership with SpaceX to scale its AI model training. What looks like a simple infrastructure deal could turn into one of the biggest moves in the AI industry.
The announcement first came from Cursor, which said it needed more computing power to keep improving its models. However, details shared by SpaceX reveal that the deal may also include a potential acquisition worth up to $60 billion.
Cursor has quickly become a known name in the AI coding space. Its Composer models have improved rapidly due to better training and increased use of compute. But the company has now hit a limit. Training advanced AI models requires massive infrastructure, and that is not easy to scale.
Through xAI and its Colossus infrastructure, Cursor will now get access to a huge amount of compute power. This could help it train larger and more capable models at a much faster pace.
