At the Touch Taiwan 2026 event, Taiwanese display maker AUO showcased its latest advancements in display technology. The most notable announcement was a new 24-inch Full HD gaming monitor that supports an 800Hz refresh rate. The company claims this is the first time such a high refresh rate has been achieved on a standard 24-inch 1080p panel.
High refresh rate monitors have been evolving quickly over the past few years. Several brands have already pushed boundaries with extreme refresh rates. For example, HKC introduced a 750Hz monitor, while Antgamer is working on a 1000Hz display expected to launch in 2026. Other companies like AOC and Acer have also revealed plans for 1000Hz-class monitors.
Even though AUO’s new panel is not the fastest on paper, it stands out for bringing 800Hz to a widely used 24-inch Full HD format. This size and resolution are still popular among competitive gamers, especially in esports, where higher frame rates and lower latency can make a real difference.
Alongside the 800Hz display, AUO also announced other high-end panels. These include a 32-inch monitor with a dual-mode setup that can switch between 4K at 360Hz and a high refresh rate mode for smoother gameplay. There is also a 27-inch display with 5K resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate, aimed at users who want both sharp visuals and fluid performance.
The company also shared updates on its Micro LED technology, which is moving closer to mass production. This could play a big role in future display improvements, especially in terms of brightness, efficiency, and lifespan.
AUO has not revealed pricing or availability details for any of these monitors yet. Since these were early announcements, it may take some time before these products reach the market.
