Ubisoft has officially revealed the long-rumored remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. The new version is called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and it is set to launch on July 9.

The game brings back the story of Edward Kenway, more than a decade after the original release. Ubisoft says this remake is designed to feel more immersive and realistic while staying true to the original experience.

Ubisoft is calling this a faithful recreation instead of a full redesign. Unlike recent entries in the series, this will not be an RPG-style game.

The new game uses the updated Anvil Engine, which was also seen in newer titles like Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. This allows for major visual and gameplay improvements.

The improvements include ray tracing, upgraded water effects, and a full visual overhaul. Combat and stealth have also been improved. Naval battles, which were a major part of the original, have been reworked as well. Ubisoft is also adding new quests and more customization options.

You will once again play as Edward Kenway and explore the Caribbean, sailing the Jackdaw and taking part in naval combat and sword fights.

PC requirements and optimization

For minimum settings (1080p at 30FPS), players will need:

  • Intel Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600
  • GTX 1660 or equivalent GPU
  • 16GB RAM
  • 65GB SSD storage

For high-end 4K gameplay at 60FPS, the requirements go up to:

  • Intel Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X3D
  • RTX 4090 or Radeon RX 7900 XTX

Interestingly, Ubisoft has also confirmed support for devices like the Steam Deck. It suggests better optimization compared to some past releases.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will launch on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Store, along with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The standard edition is priced at $59.99. Ubisoft will also offer Deluxe and Collector’s Editions with additional content.
