Apple has expanded its gaming subscription service, Apple Arcade, with two well-known indie titles. The platform has now added Dredge+ and Unpacking+, both optimized for mobile devices. Players who enjoy unique and story-driven indie games will surely love these games.
Dredge+ is the complete version of the original game. It includes all the DLC content that was released earlier. You sail during the day, catch fish, and manage your inventory. But things change at night. Strange creatures start appearing, and the game slowly shifts into a horror experience.
The game mixes calm gameplay with tension. It also plays with the player’s mind, making you question what is real and what is not. This kind of design reminds many players of classics like Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem.
Unpacking+ is a very different kind of game. It focuses on a simple idea. You unpack items and place them in a home. Even though the gameplay is basic, the storytelling is strong. As you place objects, you slowly understand the life of the character. This is why the game received strong recognition, including an award for Cultural Impact at the App Store Awards 2023.
The mobile version has been updated with touch controls to make it easy to play in short sessions.
Along with these two titles, Apple Arcade has also added My Very Hungry Caterpillar+ to the platform. Existing games are also getting updates. Disney SpellStruck now includes new Star Wars-themed content, while Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop is set to receive a new game mode on April 9.
