Xiaomi 17 Ultra with Leica APO Telephoto Camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Launched in India

Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in India. The smartphone was first introduced in China in December 2025 and is now making its way to the Indian market.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the company’s top flagship smartphone and focuses heavily on photography. The device brings several high-end features, including a Leica camera system and a powerful new processor.

The main highlight of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is its camera setup. Xiaomi says this is the first smartphone to feature a Leica APO-certified telephoto lens. The phone features a triple rear camera system developed with Leica. The setup includes:

50MP 1-inch Light Fusion 1050L main camera
50MP Leica ultra-wide camera with 115-degree field of view
200MP Samsung HPE periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom

The 200MP periscope lens supports long-range photography and improved colour accuracy. Xiaomi says the APO certification also helps reduce chromatic aberration. The rear camera is capable of recording videos at 8K/30 fps.

For selfies, the phone includes a 50MP front camera.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a large 6.9-inch 2K LTPO OLED display with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The display also supports 1920Hz PWM dimming and can reach 3,500 nits peak brightness. The screen is protected by Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0.

The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The SoC features two performance cores delivering a peak clock speed of 4.6GHz and six efficiency cores clocked at 3.62GHz. It comes with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. The smartphone runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3.0.

It also has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and an infrared sensor. For good audio, it also features Hi-Res audio, Stereo speakers, and Dolby Atmos.

Connectivity options include Dual-SIM 5G support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, GPS, and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port. It also features Satellite connectivity.

The phone also comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings

Xiaomi 17 Ultra packs a large 6800mAh battery. It also supports 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Price and Availability in India

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced at Rs 1,39,999 in India for the 16GB + 512GB variant. However, Xiaomi is offering an early bird price of Rs 1,29,999 between March 13 and March 17, 2026.

The phone will be available in Leica Black, Leica White, and Starry Sky Green colour options.

Xiaomi is also bundling the Leica Imaging Photography Kit, worth Rs 19,999, for free with the smartphone during the launch offer.
