Developer Digital Extremes has confirmed the launch of its free-to-play game Warframe for Nintendo Switch 2. Warframe has already been available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and mobile. With this release, the game expands its reach and takes advantage of the improved hardware of the Switch 2.
The game remains the same core experience. It is a story-driven online action game where players take on the role of powerful warriors called Tenno. You can play solo or team up with friends to complete missions across the Origin System.
The Switch 2 version focuses on better performance and improved visuals. The game targets 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. It also supports DLSS, which helps improve performance while maintaining visual quality. Players can expect faster loading times, improved audio, and better lighting effects.
In docked mode, the game includes enhanced shadows and decals. Both docked and handheld modes benefit from higher shader quality and improved textures. The update also brings volumetric lighting, which makes environments look more realistic.
Another interesting addition is support for Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. This should offer better precision for players who prefer more accurate aiming.
To celebrate the launch, Digital Extremes is offering a free in-game reward pack. Players who log in to Warframe on Switch 2 between March 25 and April 15 can claim the Ambimanus Pack. This includes weapons, cosmetic items, and boosters to help progress faster in the game.
Warframe is already popular among PC players. As per Warframe Steam Charts, it reaches around 60000 concurrent players daily. After the announcement of Switch 2, it also saw a sudden rise in Steam players. It also gets good viewership on Twitch.
