Dark fantasy adventure game The Midnight Walk is officially coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on March 26. The game will be priced at $29.99. It is published by Fast Travel Games and developed by MoonHood.
The title originally launched on PlayStation 5 with PlayStation VR2 support and later on PC via Steam with VR compatibility. The Switch 2 version brings the full experience to handheld and docked players without requiring a VR headset.
The Midnight Walk is a first person narrative adventure set in a dark fantasy world. It focuses on atmosphere, exploration, and story rather than fast paced combat.
You play as The Burnt One. Early in the game, you meet Potboy, a small lantern creature whose flame becomes central to survival. The world is filled with monsters that are drawn to that flame. Instead of direct action, much of the gameplay involves outsmarting enemies and navigating dangerous areas carefully.
The experience is divided into five connected tales built around themes of fire and darkness. Expect environmental storytelling, strange characters, and slow building tension.
If you enjoy games that focus on mood and narrative depth rather than constant action, this is closer to titles like story driven indie adventures than traditional horror shooters.
The most notable thing about teh game is its visual design. Everything in the game was handcrafted using real clay. Characters, enemies, and environments were sculpted physically and then scanned into the game. The final result is animated in a stop motion style.
This gives the world a textured, almost tactile look. It feels handmade and different from typical digital art. For players who care about art direction and creative design, this is a major selling point.
On Switch 2, this style works well in handheld mode, where the detailed models feel close and personal. In docked mode, the larger screen makes the environments more cinematic.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version supports:
- Handheld mode for portable play
- Docked mode for big screen gaming
- Standard controls without VR
Unlike the PlayStation 5 and PC versions, this release does not require VR hardware. That makes it more accessible for players who prefer traditional controls.
Bringing The Midnight Walk to Switch 2 expands its audience beyond VR users. Many players skipped the original release because it required specific hardware. The hybrid console version removes that barrier.
