Slay the Spire 2 has quickly turned into one of the biggest PC game launches of the year. Just days after entering early access on Steam, the roguelike deck-building game has crossed three million copies sold. It shows that the sequel is already a massive success for developer Mega Crit Games.
The milestone was confirmed by the studio’s community manager Demi, who also revealed that players have already completed more than 25 million runs in the game. Interestingly, the team started tracking this data slightly after launch, meaning several million additional runs may not have been counted.
The new sales figure comes after the game already broke records on Steam. Within hours of launch, the game saw more than 430,000 concurrent players, making the largest roguelite launch in Steam history. Since then, the numbers have continued to climb.
According to our Slay the Spire 2 Steam Charts, the game has now reached a 574,458 all time peak concurrent player count, while the 24 hour peak stands at 572,187 players. Even at the time of writing, around 240,000 players are still actively playing, which shows that the initial hype has not slowed down.
These numbers are particularly impressive for a game that is still in early access and has not yet received its full content roadmap.
Streaming platforms are also seeing steady engagement. On Twitch, the game currently has around 18,919 active viewers, while the all time peak viewership has reached 126,666 viewers. The 24 hour peak stands at 41,773 viewers.
For an early access title, maintaining both strong player numbers and steady streaming viewership usually indicates long term potential.
Despite the strong start, the development of Slay the Spire 2 is still in its early phase. Mega Crit says it does not yet have a detailed roadmap for major content updates. However, the team has confirmed that several improvements are already in development. These include quality of life improvements for multiplayer, Steam Workshop support for mods, a friends-only leaderboard, and a reworked badge and scoring system. Balance updates and other gameplay tweaks are also expected as more players spend time with the game.
Players who want to test upcoming changes early can access the Steam beta branch, where new features and adjustments may appear before wider release.
For now, Slay the Spire 2 is available only on PC through Steam Early Access. Console versions are possible in the future, but the developer has suggested that the game may remain in early access for one to two years before reaching its full release.
That timeline could change depending on development progress, as the studio says it prefers to release the game when it is ready rather than follow a fixed schedule.
The original Slay the Spire built a huge following over time and became one of the most influential deck-building roguelikes in modern gaming. Based on current player numbers and sales performance, the sequel appears to be following a similar path.
