After a successful run of nearly a decade, Shadowverse is finally shutting down. Developer Cygames has confirmed that the game will end service on June 30, 2026.
Shadowverse was first launched on June 17, 2016 for mobile platforms, followed by a PC release later that year. It quickly became popular among fans of digital card games and built a strong global player base over the years.
In its official announcement, Cygames thanked players for their long support. The company also highlighted how the game evolved over time. It introduced new classes, multiple game modes, and more than 5,000 cards across 32 expansions. The game also expanded into esports with major tournaments like the World Grand Prix, which offered large prize pools.
The Shadowverse universe also grew beyond the main game. It inspired projects like Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle, the physical card game Shadowverse: Evolve, and anime adaptations.
While the original game is shutting down, its successor, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond, will continue to operate. This new title was launched in June 2025 across PC and mobile platforms.
Cygames has also shared a timeline for the final months of Shadowverse. From March 24, 2026, players will no longer be able to purchase in-game currency. However, any previously purchased currency can still be used. The game will continue to run events, including rotating card pools and a final Battle Pass season.
The service will officially end on June 30, 2026. After that, players will no longer be able to access the game or link their accounts to the newer title.
