Redmi has launched its latest smartphone, Redmi 15A 5G, in India. The phone focuses on a large display, long battery life, and extended software support.
Redmi 15A 5G features a 6.9-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. At this price, a 120Hz panel is a good addition and makes scrolling smoother. However, the HD+ resolution is a clear compromise. Most phones around Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 16,000 now offer Full HD+ panels, so the lower resolution may feel less sharp, especially on such a big screen.

It is powered by the Unisoc T8300 processor. This is an entry-level 5G chipset, so it should handle daily tasks like calling, social media, and light apps without issues. But users should not expect strong gaming performance. In this price range, some phones already offer more powerful Snapdragon or MediaTek chips, which deliver better overall performance. The phone comes with up to 6GB RAM and supports additional virtual RAM. This is decent for basic multitasking.
The device runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3.0 and promises 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates. This is better than many budget phones, where software support is usually limited to 2–3 years.
The phone includes a 32MP main sensor and a secondary camera. It also has an 8MP front camera, which is standard in this segment and should be enough for video calls and basic selfies.
Redmi 15A 5G also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, IP52 rating, headphone jack, and FM radio. Connectivity options are 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.4, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C Port.
The phone packs a 6300mAh battery. However, it only supports 15W charging, which is quite slow compared to competitors that offer 25W or even 33W fast charging. It also supports 7.5W reverse wired charging, which is a useful extra feature in this segment.
Price and availability
The REDMI 15A 5G comes in Awesome Blue, Amaze Purple, and Ace Black colours.
- 4GB + 64GB: Rs. 12,999
- 4GB + 128GB: Rs. 14,499
- 6GB + 128GB: Rs. 16,499
It will be available from April 3 via Mi.com, Flipkart, and offline stores.
At this price, the REDMI 15A 5G gets some important things right. The large battery, smooth 120Hz display, and long software support make it a good option for users who want a simple phone for daily use. But, HD+ display seems a compromise and Unisoc processor is not very powerful compared to rivals.
In the Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 16,000 range, competition is strong. Other brands like Realme, iQOO, and Motorola also provide better performance-focused options in this segment. You can check the list of phones under 15000 to see what other options you have.
