POCO has launched the POCO C85x 5G in India as its new budget 5G smartphone. The device comes as a successor to the POCO C85 that was introduced in December last year. With this phone, POCO is focusing on a large display, long battery life, and affordable 5G connectivity.
The POCO C85x 5G features a large 6.9-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen also comes with triple TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light and flicker-free viewing. It offers up to 660 nits of typical brightness and can go up to 810 nits in high brightness mode.
The phone is powered by the Unisoc T8300 processor, built on a 6nm process. It is paired with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM, along with support for up to 4GB virtual RAM expansion. Storage options include 64GB and 128GB, and users can expand storage up to 1TB using a microSD card.
POCO ships the phone with Android 16-based Xiaomi HyperOS out of the box.
The device comes with a 32MP main rear camera along with a secondary sensor. On the front, there is an 8MP camera placed inside the notch for selfies and video calls.
The phone also includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and FM Radio, which are still useful additions in budget phones. Connectivity options include 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.4, and GPS.

It packs a large 6300mAh battery, which is significantly larger than what most phones offer in this price segment. The phone supports 15W charging, and the charger is included in the box. POCO also says the battery will retain around 80 percent health even after 1000 charging cycles, which roughly translates to over three years of usage. Interestingly, the phone also supports 7.5W reverse wired charging.
Price and availability
The POCO C85x 5G comes in Black, Gold, and Green colours. The 4GB + 64GB model is priced at Rs. 10,999, while the 4GB + 128GB version costs Rs. 11,999. The smartphone will go on sale in India via Flipkart starting March 14.
Looking at the specifications, POCO seems to be targeting users who want maximum battery life and a big screen at a low price. However, the HD+ resolution on such a large 6.9-inch display might not offer the sharpest viewing experience. The Unisoc T8300 chipset is also not known for heavy gaming performance, so this phone will likely be better suited for everyday tasks like browsing, social media, and video streaming rather than demanding games.
